It's a boy!
we found out a little over a week ago, (sorry) I posted the announcement on social media but forget this nice little corner.
Isn't he precious? I was very sceptical about getting the ultrasound (because I really trust Ina May's judgment). But I'm so glad we did (I also think its great when people don't get ultrasounds, or do and wait to find out the gender, all really great). As for me, I really wanted to know if our sweet little baby is a boy or a girl. It was hard for me personally to fully bond when I didn't know how to imagine him. And now I feel so much closer to him.
During the ultrasound he was so active, must have flipped completely at least 5 times. The tech said he hadn't seen a baby this active in years, (seeing a bit of his personality already). I was concerned that Baby boy wouldn't show his stuff. After all if the ultrasound went well (i.e. no complications for baby) this is going to be the only one we would have, and we really wanted to know. But boy was it obvious! He flipped so much that we got to verify several times. No denying baby boy :).
His ETA (according to the sonographer) November 30- December 3rd. I wouldn't be surprised if he waited till the 10th (my dads birthday) but I hope he comes right on time. Last night I dreamt that he did.
Now I am 21 weeks +1 day (photo taken yesterday) and boy does this little man kick! Not just fluttering anymore, full fledged kicks that even Zach can feel! Zach felt the first kick at 20 weeks 2 days I believe. It feels like there is something jumping in my stomach, weird but wonderful. I'm still waiting to watch my belly ripple from his movement. every time I study my belly he stops moving, its like he knows I'm watching.
So far I have only gained 9 pounds (YAY) which puts me at the very bottom of the healthy weight gain chart. I'd like to stay at the bottom of the weight chart, a 25 pound weight gain is sounding real nice. But I know that very well may not happen. Zach and I aren't tiny people I'm 5'6 he's 6'2 and we were both 8 pound babies so I expect Baby boy will be too.
Zach and I have been walking a lot lately, I think we are averaging at least 3 miles a day. I have been taking 3lb weights with me to get a good total body workout. Even though I look super silly, its so nice to feel like your upper body got a workout while walking.
Baby is swallowing amniotic fluid to practice breathing, and with his little developed taste buds he can taste it. The fluid tastes like whatever yours truly ate. Studies also show that what you eat in utero affects your baby's food preferences. So I'm trying to eat more veggies and less sugar. I don't want my boy to have a crazy sweet tooth.
Hope everyone is well!
Best
